We have
been homeschooling our children for over twenty years and have bumped into a
variety of materials. Using all kinds of curricula, science really didn’t come
alive until we started using Apologia textbooks
(by the way, we don’t sell text books, only TESTS for some of the grade school curricula). If you want to buy an
Apologia text book, go to www.apologia.com.
Delightfully, we have built many co-op classes around these fabulous books. While
our co-op has enjoyed these books, we like to ensure that our co-op students
are ready for all the hands-on projects. The students
work on these TESTS before class. Parents can be sure students are
ready. Teachers can comfortably prepare activities and projects that reinforce
the reading, journaling and hand-booking plans at home.
Our family has created
these fun TESTS and QUIZZES to enhance students’ learning. After all is said
and done, children (grades 1-6/8) take the PRACTICE TESTS over and over (like a
flash card system - using approximate page numbers) until they’re ready to complete the FINAL TEST. Noting, of
course, these TESTS/QUIZZES are not designed to replace the marvelous handbooks
or journaling encouraged in the texts. Parents enjoy these texts because all
their students can move through this curriculum together while mom/dad reads on
the sofa. Or, individually, older students can enjoy
them alone. A side note: some of your science avoiders (haters) will begin to
enjoy science after being introduced to these text books. These topical texts
prepare the way for the General, Physical, Biology textbooks available on
the same Apologia website mentioned above.
Families, who are homeschooling alone, will appreciate this extra
accountability that our TESTS provide. Students can work on the PRACTICE TESTS
while mom and dad are busy with other stuff around the house. You can visually
see how often your student is going through the PRACTICE TEST and if they’re
ready for the FINAL TEST/QUIZ. Experience the extra help that approximate page numbers give for parents and students when the answer to a specific question seems illusive. Younger students (grades 1-3) may appreciate mom
or dad sitting with them (sometimes reading with the student) while they attend
to their 10-question QUIZ. Most parents who have students in the early primary grades will choose
the 10-question QUIZ option. Older students will likely need TEST level A, B, or C (usually over 25 questions).
We hope you enjoy the TESTS we created and would appreciate your
feedback. Essentially, we’re charging a dollar a test. So,
if the cost is $13, you’ll see 13 tests loaded for your student for your
particular textbook. After you have placed your order
and paid, you’ll receive an ACCESS CODE by email. You’ll want one access code
for each of your students. You will then use that code to access your TESTS on
the specific trustworthy testing website. You’ll get the details in your email
confirmation. So, look for it (could accidentally land in your junk or
spam folder).
STRONGLY ENCOURAGED:Provide
your email on the testing website so that
if you lose your password or username, you’ll be able to retrieve the
information you need. No email addresses are sold or passed on to anyone! We
appreciate privacy like you do.
